Founding Members

Of the 8 men originally responsible for the Businessworks concept, 5 remain:  Jim Divine, Mike O’Neill, Alistair Summers, Ian Thompson and Mike Yeoman.  Around 20 businessmen and women had been meeting at the Scottish Mining Museum, in Newtongrange every Tuesday morning for around 12 years under the auspices of a well known networking group.  After a few years of not much growth and pressure from the body that ran the group, we decided to do something radical.  Start our own networking company and so was born – BusinessWorks.

We agreed from the outset that there would be no pressure put on members to get referrals in, there would be no pressure on getting new members to join.  The idea was to create a really relaxed atmosphere in great surroundings with really nice, professional people.

This is exactly what has been happening.  Last year we decided to move location and are now meeting every second Tuesday at the Sun Inn.  The Sun Inn has recently won Scotland’s Best Gastro Pub and AA Pub of the Year!  No mean feat!

We agreed that we would use the initial 6 months to develop a plan of action, see how the invited guests were enjoying the experience etc.  What has transpired is people love our group!  We are now at the stage where we are ready to recruit new members.  We have a maximum limit of 35 members but membership is by invitation only.
